Richard “Dick” Meier, 73 of rural Prophetstown died Wednesday May 15, 2024 at home.
He was born on September 16, 1950 the son of Harold “Tubby” and Ruby (Dersham) Meier and was a 1969 graduate of Lyndon High School. Early in his career, Dick helped on his uncles farm and later did construction work for a number of contractors in the area. He owned and operated Meier Construction from 1989 – 2019. Dick loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his last job, that of mowing at Deer Valley Golf Course.
He is survived by his son Scott (Lisa) Meier and his daughter Amy Meier (Doug) both Prophetstown; six grandchildren: Bradley Meier, Michael (Bre) Jackley, Rubyanne Jackley (Jacob), Lucas Meier, Kristana Shirley, and Kenzie Fisher; two great grandsons: Kamdyn and Keegan Meier; his brother Dean (Norma) Meier of Hooppole; four sisters: Donna Mae (Ed) Merema of Lyndon, Connie Dennison of Rock Falls, Nancy (Don) Hunter of Lyndon; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Bradley Meier; his brother Stanley Meier and his sister Lavonna Meier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 23, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico and on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM until the funeral at 10:30 AM. Burial will conclude at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
