Rita J. (Saathoff) Heeren

PRINCETON – Rita J. Heeren, age 95, died Monday, October 27, 2025 at Liberty Village in Princeton.

            Rita was born on September 2, 1930 in Prophetstown the daughter of John and Florence (Dir) Saathoff. She married Fred “Pete” Heeren on March 1, 1947 in Tampico.  He preceded her in death on October 15, 1999.  Rita was a Homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bingo, Bunko and Yahtzee.

            Survivors include one daughter, Paula (Dennis) Hays of Prophetstown; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Peggy and Penny Transou; one son, Terry Herren; numerous brothers and sisters.

            Visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:30 AM Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.  Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM with Deacon Bill Lemmer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Tampico. 

            In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
