Rita H. Seyller

Tampico - Rita H. Seyller, 83, of Tampico, died at 7:40 am, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Allure of Prophetstown, in Prophetstown, IL, with her loving husband by her side.

She was born on February 22, 1942 in Kewanee, Il, the daughter of Wilmur (Buck) and Bernice (Stanislavaitis) Driscoll. She married James Seyller on November 6, 1965 at Visitation Catholic Church in Kewanee, IL.  He survives along with their 4 children; David (Kris) Seyller of Prophetstown, IL, Susan Dorsey of Toulon, IL, Michael (Tracy) Seyller of North Aurora, IL and Kevin (Amy) Seyller of Rockford, IL; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and her brother, Donald.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jean (Carl) Watson; and a son-in-law, Barry Dorsey.

Rita graduated from Kewanee High School in 1960. She worked at Murphy’s book store in Kewanee before marriage. Then as a full-time mother, ‘professional egg gatherer’, an assembler at Tyco Electronics, a clerk and cashier at Ace Hardware and ended her working career as a cashier at Walmart – all in Sterling. Rita was also active in her church, St Mary’s in Tampico, where she taught CCD for ~ 30 years.

She enjoyed spending time with family and her collies.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampico.  Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at the church with Reverend Slawomir Zimodro officiating.  Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Tampico.

A memorial has been established.
