Rita Spitz

 Rita M. Spitz, age 97, of Amboy, Illinois died Friday, September 18, 2015 at Aperion Care in Amboy.
Rita was born on November 9, 1917 in Sublette, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Dinges) Kuebel. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Spitz on November 16, 1942 in Sublette, IL. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1989. Ken and Rita owned and operated Spitz Plumbing and Heating in Amboy where she was the bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Amboy, the Parish Women Association, and American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila (G.G.) Garcia of Amboy, IL; 5 grandchildren Ileana (Joseph) Garcia- Spitz Wilson of Elsa, TX, Jorge (Laure) Garcia-Spitz in Brooklyn, NY, Cristela Garcia- Spitz of San Diego, CA, Benjamin Garcia-Spitz of Chicago, IL, Juan Carlos Garcia-Spitz of Chicago, IL; one sister Rose Biederstedt of Mendota, IL; one brother Charles (Florence) Kuebel of Sublette, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Amboy with the Rev. Timothy Draper, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A memorial has been established to St Vincent DePaul at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the American Legion Women Auxiliary. The Garland Funeral Home in Walnut is in charge of arrangements.
