Robert M. Hassler

Robert M. Hassler, 86 and formerly of New Bedford, died Saturday March 1, 2025.

He was born on May 14, 1938 in Tiskilwa, the son of Murray and Virginia (Sterling) Hassler and had served in the US Navy. He married Carol Thompson on March 31, 1973 in New Bedford. She died January 23, 2018. Bob worked as a service technician for 45 years at Diller-Rod in Princeton before retiring. Bob had enjoyed hunting and was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Survivors include his daughter Kathleen Hassler of Rock Island; his sisters: Sue (Richard) Frank of Ohio and Janet Christensen of Walnut; his brother in law Frances Jorgensen of Princeton; sister in law, Peggy Hassler of Walnut; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: David and Joe; and his sister Judy Jorgensen.

Visitation will be Friday March 7, 2025 from 1-2 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial with military honors will conclude at Walnut Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
