Robert D. Neahring

MANLIUS -Robert D. Neahring (born August 12,1943), of Manlius, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 18, 2025 at 1:13 PM in Parker Rehabilitation home in Streator, IL.

         Survivors include his wife, of 57 years, Susan K. Neahring (Lubbs).  Also surviving, are his four children. Derek (Roxann), Claudine (Ron McBain), Marcy (Parks) and Holly.  Bob was, additionally, survived by his 9 grandchildren, as well as three great grandchildren.  Bob was preceded in death by his youngest brother Kenneth,  Bob is survived by the following siblings:  John (Barb), Larry (Charlotte), Joy (Benevidez), and Deb (Ken Neahring). 

Bob served in the US Army from 1965-1967.  He also served on the Manlius Volunteer Fire Department for 51; the final 14 years as Fire Chief.  Furthermore, solely creating one of the department’s inaugural brush trucks.  Bob was mutually responsible for reviving the Cub/Boy Scout programs in Manlius; along side the late Kendall Jensen and Norma Raabe.  Bob also coached the Little and Minor League Baseball Teams.  He was adamant in instilling the use of the “Rag Ball” into the Tee Ball games, to protect the safety of local youths. Which, is now, a requirement..Bob was a pioneer, plus a mentor to much of the community.

Graveside services for the family will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 14, 2025 Bob’s Celebration of Life Services will follow at Mullin Park, in Manlius, June 14, 2025. There will be a luncheon to follow.

We ask that any donations or arrangements be distributed to  Alzheimer’s or Cancer Research. 

Bob was a man whom had open arms, for anyone seeking a warm welcome; always with a smile under his signature handlebar mustache.
