HARMON – Sandra K. Kruse, age 70, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Rock River Hospice & Home following a short non-Covid related illness.
Sandy was born on January 12, 1951 in Princeton. She was the daughter of John and Lorene (Mon) Tuggle. She married Gene Kruse on December 7, 1968 in Walnut. Sandy was employed as the Food Coordinator with the Bureau Valley School District, retiring in 2006. She also served as Hamilton Township Supervisor and President of the Walnut Grade School Board. Sandy enjoyed card games, croquet, puzzles, bowling, and loved cooking - which led to catering. Gene and her loved to travel, having visited 11 countries and all but 2 states.
She leaves behind her high school sweet heart, Gene Kruse. They just celebrated 52 years of marriage; he was the love of her life. Her three children she poured her heart and soul into: Jennifer (David) Cooper of Rock Falls, David Kruse of Walnut, and Bradd (Lauren) Kruse of Walnut. Her grandchildren were her world and she cherished every moment spent with them: Cole (Jennifer) Cooper, Brittany Cooper, Alexis (Blake) Kruse, Alaina Kruse, Ariel Cooper, Ava Kruse, and Carson Kruse. She adored her 6 great grandchildren and one on the way. She had a sister, Nancy Cherry, who she loved dearly, along with a niece and nephews that were close to her heart, and many treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws (Clifford and Clarice Kruse), one brother-in-law (Jim Cherry), and one sister-in-law (Linda Geldean).
Visitation with a maximum 50 people in attendance at a time will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Private funeral services will be held on Saturday with Pastor Ron Eckberg officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
