Susan Epperson Obituary

Susan D. Epperson, daughter, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on November 26, 2021. Born on January, 18 1942 to Walter and Marion Sullivan in Aurora, Illinois.

Sue attended TCU and the University of Illinois, where she met Lew in 1962, and they were married on June 9, 1963. As a couple, and then a family, Sue followed Lew through his career in the USAF, lived throughout the United States, and travelled the world. She was a remarkable woman and homemaker who often raised her family on her own when Lew was in Vietnam, on TDY, or on business trips. She and Lew were married for 58 years, lived in 38 different places during their marriage and their adventures are a testimony to the resilience of their love. In the end, they returned to Walnut for their retirement.

She is survived by her loving husband Lew, and her children Scott, Anna, and Edward. With eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren she kept busy at Christmas, and visiting all them as they grew up and moved across the country. She worked extensively with the churches she attended, and in her final years in Walnut is remembered by the local community as Grandma Sue in the neighborhood to many of the children.

As she battled with dementia, she still inquired about all of her children, asking how they were, where they were, and was always kind and friendly up to the end of her life. She will be truly missed.

Funeral Services will be on December 4, 2021 at Garland Funeral Home, Walnut Il at 12:30 for viewing, and 1:30 for the service. There will be a reception at Walnut Christian Church following the service.
