Thomas A. Russ, age 74, of Tampico died Tuesday March 15, 2016 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Tom was born on October 1, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Tony and Frances (Tijan) Russ. He served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kogut on April 28, 1976 in Lombard, Illinois. Tom was an auditor for over 40 years for various hotels. He enjoyed antique cars. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Russ of Princeton, IL; three daughters Lynn Wienburg of Kewanee, IL, Elizabeth (Ken) Mead of Tampico, IL, Mary Russ of Tampico, IL; two sons Gary (Alicia) Garland of Woodridge, IL, Terry (Kelly) Garland of Walnut, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor officiating. A memorial has been established. The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is in charge of arrangements.
