Verna L. Fritz

Verna Fritz, 83, of Walnut, died on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Allure of Walnut.

She was born on July 11, 1941, in Princeton, Illinois, the daughter of Vernon and Loretta (Curry) Anderson. She married Glen Fritz on December 28, 1959, in Walnut, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2019. Verna was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Walnut, and she cherished her time spent with her church family. She enjoyed sewing, golfing, and playing piano.  Verna loved her family dearly and was always thoughtful and helpful to those she loved. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. 

She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie (Gary) Pistole of Walnut, Jodi (Steve) Petrilli of Bloomington; one son, Rick (Stephanie) Fritz of Mundelain; son-in-law, Ron Poplawski of Lisbon; eleven grandchildren, Mathew, Natalie, Derek, Ronnie, Anthony, Luke, Cole, Libby, Andrew, Logan, and Joey; eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Penny Poplawski; three sisters, Margaret, Mary, and Virginia; one brother, Raymond.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 11AM – 12 PM at First Christian Church of Walnut. Burial at Walnut Cemetery will take place immediately following the Celebration of Life at the church.
