William Ryan

William E. Ryan, age 81, of Sterling, Illinois died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Bill was born on January 29, 1934 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Joseph J. Sr. and Martha (Johnson) R.N. Ryan. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Shirley A. Harden on February 18, 1958 at St. Mary's Church in Clinton, Iowa. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire in the furnace department.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ryan of Sterling, Illinois; one brother- in law George Logan of Rock Falls, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one stillborn daughter, two sisters Patricia Logan, Margaret Ann Coble, one brother Joseph J. Ryan Jr., and one foster sister Marge Selpein Collins.
Cremation rites were accorded. Private graveside services were held on Saturday August 29, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling with Deacon John Kellen, officiating. Garland Funeral Home in Walnut were in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to: www.garlandfuneralhome.com.
